Mia Mendoza, m.d., j.d.

 

After practicing intellectual property law for more than a decade at a large downtown Minneapolis law firm, Mia founded Bailiwick Law to provide a more modern and efficient way to serve clients.

 

With dual degrees in medicine and law, Mia loves science and technology as well as creativity.  She is a quick thinker who can rapidly delve into new technology to understand the invention as well as the challenges in protecting it and bringing it to market.  She develops innovative strategies that help her clients thrive.

Areas of technical experience

Mia has intellectual property experience in a broad range of technologies including medical device, biotechnology, chemical, food, and mechanical inventions.  Examples of her areas of experience include:

 

     Medical Device:  cardiac (pacemakers, defibrilators, ablation), neurological (stimulators, 

     ablation), diagnostic (imaging, intravascular, breath detection), orthopedic, surgical devices,

     injection systems

 

     Biotechnology:  assays, controls, reagents, diagnostics, nucleic acid related inventions, 

     stem cells

 

     Chemical:  coatings, therapeutics, biofuels, paints

 

     Food:  products and productions processes and machinery for egg, cereals, cheese,

     meat and yogurt prodcts, food packaging

 

     Mechanical:  vehicles (floor surface maintenance machines, all terrain vehicles, pavement

     grinding machines), biofuels production systems (cellulosic, algae)

 

     Other:  Software (medical diagnostic systems, medical device monitoring, social media),

     retaining walls, design patents
